The legend of the Robbins Reef Yacht Club is that a man hanged himself in the upstairs room and witnesses now describe an icy sensation whenever they enter that room while it's dark. Nellie's Pond was named after the horse of a Revolutionary War messenger who drowned here quite some time ago. The pond is pretty much dried up today, but locals say you can still hear the cries of the ghostly horse that drowned. The Absecon Lighthouse overlooks the Absecon Inlet. It stands as the tallest lighthouse in New Jersey, at 171 feet and 228 steps. It served from 1857 to 1933 and now stands restored.
